Library Hours, Borrowing Policy, and Mission Statement

Library Hours and Lunchtime
- The library is open from 7:20 AM to 2:30 PM unless otherwise posted.
- Please see the whiteboard in the library hallway for the week's schedule and announcements.
- Students can access the library with a scheduled class, at lunch, on a pass during class, and after school.
- Lunchtime - students are encouraged to eat lunch in the library, enjoy time with friends, check out games, meet with clubs, explore the Makerspace, check out books, study in a quiet collaboration room, and participate in library activities!

Borrowing Library Materials
- Providing a student I.D. number is the only requirement to check out materials.
- Students may borrow library materials for 15 school days (does not include weekends or holidays).
- Students may renew materials 2 times (exceptions made for long-term projects).
- Holds can be placed on books through Destiny and will be delivered to the student's 1st period class.
- Students are provided a paper receipt with the due date to be used as a bookmark. Students are also emailed the receipt.
- Students and parents are provided a reminder email 3 school days before materials are due.
- Students and parents are provided weekly automated email notices for late materials. Students also receive paper notices in 1st period.
- Library emails are sent to a student's school Outlook email account and not a personal email address.
- There are no fines for late returns.
- 30 school days after the due date, late materials are automatically marked "lost". Students must pay for lost materials or simply return them at no charge.
- Damaged materials must be paid for.
- Library materials belonging to other schools in the district can be returned to the Debbie Smith library.
- Please make all lost/damaged payments to the bookkeeper then walk the receipt to the librarian to clear the account.
