Team Morris Missing Assignments Policy
Dear Team Morris Parents and Guardians,
As a school, we have noticed that students are not using class time appropriately, procrastinating turning in work, and then as the quarter ends, students turn in missing assignments that are not quality work. Also, the assigned lesson work becomes irrelevant if students are completing the work weeks after the actual lesson. For some, as the quarter progresses, students feel overwhelmed and shut down when they see the number of missing assignments they have accumulated. These habits will not serve them well in 7th grade.
Each core teacher will be assigning due dates for their specific class, based on the end date of the current unit being taught. This includes in-class assignments, homework, projects, essays and exams. Assignment dues dates will be posted on our Team Website (www.washoeschools.net/teammorris) and students will also record assignments and due dates in their Agenda Books.
Students will then be given an additional 2 weeks from the assigned due date to complete and turn in any missing assignments. In most cases, assignments will be completed during class. However, some assignments may need to be completed at home or in Homework Club. Once assignments are 2 weeks late, the students will be given a 0, and will no longer have the ability to complete and turn in the missing work.
Mendive will offer after-school Homework Club/Support in the Library on Tuesdays, and Thursdays, from 2:15 pm-3:15 pm. This will start at the beginning of September. Students must come prepared with schoolwork to work on/get help. Students messing around, being disrespectful, playing games, disturbing others, etc.… will unfortunately be asked to leave. This is a fantastic opportunity to get extra help, get ahead, or simply finish homework/makeup work with teacher's support.
Thank you for your support.
Ms. Morris, Mrs. Lundy, Ms. Medina, Ms. Ceccarelli
