  • Dear Diedrichsen Families and Community,

My name is Courtney Sego, and I am incredibly honored to introduce myself as the new principal of Diedrichsen Elementary School. As we gear up for an exciting 2025–2026 school year, I wanted to take a moment to share a little about myself and the vision I bring to our school community.

I have proudly served in education for the past 17 years, most recently as principal at Silver Lake Elementary. I am also a proud product of the Washoe County School District I attended school here from kindergarten through 12th grade. This community shaped me into who I am today, and it’s a privilege to now serve in a leadership role within the very district that raised me.

Outside of my role as an educator, I’m a mom of two amazing kids. My youngest will be a senior in high school this year, which makes this chapter of life especially meaningful. I understand firsthand the hopes, worries, and dreams families carry for their children, and I bring that perspective into every decision I make as a school leader.

I’m passionate about creating a school environment where every student feels valued, challenged, and supported. I believe that strong relationships with students, staff, and families are at the heart of a thriving school, and I’m committed to building those connections here at Diedrichsen.

This year, our school-wide theme is “Mission Possible: Operation 4-Star.” It reflects our shared commitment to continuous improvement and working together to take Diedrichsen to the next level. You’ll see this theme come to life throughout the year as we focus on rigorous instruction, student goal setting, and building a strong sense of community.

And just for fun don’t be surprised if you spot a few flamingos around campus. They’ve become a bit of a symbol in my leadership journey, reminding us to stand tall, stay balanced, and embrace a little joy in the work we do.

I look forward to partnering with you this year as we support our students academically, socially, and emotionally. Please don’t hesitate to reach out I welcome your input, your involvement, and your ideas. Let’s make this a fantastic school year together!

    Warmly,
    Courtney Sego
