Counselor's Corner
Hi Risley families! My name is Alyce Hulet, and I am excited to return as the school counselor at Risley. It is an honor to be part of this wonderful community, and I look forward to working with you and your children throughout the school year.
My Role as a School Counselor
My primary goal is to support the academic, social, and emotional development of all students. Some of my responsibilities include:
- Individual Counseling: One-on-one support for personal, academic, or social challenges.
- Group Counseling: Small group sessions on topics like friendship, coping skills, and self-esteem.
- Classroom Lessons: Guidance lessons on skills like problem-solving, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation.
- Family Connection: Providing resources and guidance to families to support their child’s education and well-being. Working with parents and teachers to create a supportive environment for every child.
What I Will Be Teaching This Year
I will be teaching lessons aligned with the ASCA standards, primarily focusing on:
- Academic Development: Skills like goal-setting, organization, and time management.
- Career Development: Introducing various career options and connecting education to future paths.
- Social/Emotional Development: Teaching empathy, communication, decision-making, and coping strategies.
How I Can Support Your Family
I am here to support your child and family. If you have concerns about your child's academic progress, emotional well-being, or social interactions, or need community resources please reach out to me. I look forward to collaborating to ensure your child and family has a successful school experience.
Please contact me via email at Alyce.Hulet@washoeschools.net or by phone at 775-353-5760 if you have any questions or need assistance.
In the coming weeks, I will be visiting classrooms to reconnect with students and introduce myself to new students. I am also planning some exciting activities and programs to support our students throughout the year.
Together, we can make this school year a wonderful and rewarding experience for all our students.
