International Women's Day and Tu Casa Latina Scholarship
To support women in our community, in 2023 Tu Casa Latina in collaboration with other partnerships established the International Women’s Day Scholarship Fund. A scholarship of $250 will be awarded to a high school senior in our community. Applicants must be residents of Northern Nevada who identify as women and will be high school seniors as of March 2024. Recipients must plan to enroll in part-time or full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical/trade school for the upcoming semester.
To apply, please submit a 500-word essay answering the question: What Does International Women’s Day Mean to You? Include your Name, email address, and phone number with your submission.

Western Nevada Cattlewomen Scholarship Application
This year, we will have $5,000 available to be divided among the successful applicants. Please make this application (three pages total) available to interested students.
Eligibility requirements are:
- At least a 3.3 or above GPA (unweighted).
- A graduating high school senior pursuing a degree relating to the field of agriculture or natural resources. We want to see their interests, activities, and financial needs. Those not pursuing a degree in agriculture or natural resources will not be reviewed.
- The student does not need to be explicitly involved with the cattle industry. We are looking for well-rounded individuals who will continue school in an agricultural or natural resources field and attend school in the United States.

application deadline is midnight on March 1The P.E.O. Sisterhood is an international philanthropic and educational organization that promotes
educational opportunities for women through grants, loans, and scholarships. P.E.O. Nevada Chapter Q
is awarding Marguerite Scholarships to three high school senior women in the Washoe County School
District. Each year the Scholar receives $3,000, renewable each of the four years of college enrollment.
At the end of four years, the Marguerite Scholarship will equal $12,000 per awardee.
A Marguerite Scholar who is graduating early and is accepted in a Collegiate Graduate Program or a
Certification Program will continue to receive the Marguerite Scholarship until the $12,000 has been
exhausted. The Scholar must have attained a 3.0 GPA in her undergraduate studies allowing her to
graduate with a 3.0 overall and continue to do so in the graduate program while receiving the remainder

Awards Available: 52
State Winners:
Fifty-two winners – one from each state, the District of Colombia and Puerto Rico – are selected by our nonprofit partner, Scholarship America, to receive one-time scholarship awards of $10,000 each.
National Winners:
From the pool of 52 state winners, ten are selected as national winners and earn an additional one-time scholarship of $15,000. This brings the top AXA Achievers total scholarship awards to $25,000 each. These top ten also receive the offer of an internship with AXA.
Our scholarship winners are known as AXA Achievers. They are ethnically and economically diverse, but they share these qualities:

DEC 1: SIERRA NEVADA COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL WRITING CONTEST
Open to all Juniors and Seniors. Enter an original work of POETRY, FICTION, CREATIVE NONFICTION, or all three. Top three will receive cash awards and be considered for publication! View instructions at SierraNevada.edu.
DEC 1: THE SOROPTIMIST VIOLET RICHARDSON AWARD If you are a young woman between the ages of 14 and 17, who believes in the
power of volunteer action, please apply. Up to 3 local winners will split a $1000 award. Winners are then eligible for one of 28 $1000 regional awards.

DEC 5: ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION: MOST VALUABLE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP
$2,296,000, divided into 500 awards is available to seniors. Selection is based on scholarship, leadership and financial need. Awards range from $1,000 to $60,000. The application must be turned into LOCAL Reno Elks Lodge. Applications are available online at www.ELKS.org. Our LOCAL LODGE offers more scholarships for students pursuing nursing and other vocations.
DEC 15: FUTURO CON LECHE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Seniors of Hispanic heritage: If you have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and are eligible for a Pell Grant, apply for this scholarship. TEN $4,000 scholarships will be awarded. Visit www.HSF.net/FuturoConLeche for more information and to start your application.
DEC 19: FOOT LOCKER SCHOLAR ATHLETES
Senior Athletes: Are you a leader on and off the field? Applicants must be involved in school sports OR community-based sports, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Twenty $20,000 scholarships will be awarded. Go to DoSomething.org/FootLocker to start your application.
JAN 16: GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS AWARD PROGRAM
Open to seniors of qualifying ethnic groups: African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific American or Hispanic American. Must demonstrate financial need by qualifying for a PELL grant, have a 3.3 GPA minimum, and leadership record. The VERY extensive application requires two Damonte Ranch adults to verify by nominating and recommending. START NOW: www.GMSP.org.
DEC. 20: RMHC U.S. Scholarships
Scholarship Value: $1,000
Awards Available: 100
To apply for an RMHC scholarship, a student must:
1. Be a high school senior
2. Be younger than 21 years old
3. Be eligible to attend a two- or four-year college or university with a full course of study
4. Be a legal U.S. resident
5. Live in a participating RMHC Chapter’s geographic area
6. Submit a completed application and all required documentation by the deadline on the application
7. Meet any additional eligibility requirements outlined by each scholarship program
8. Verification of enrollment each year at the student’s accredited post-secondary institution
