    • Nevada’s Week of Respect

      Each year, the first week of October in Nevada is designated as the Week of Respect. This designation provides schools across Nevada with the opportunity to engage in activities and learning opportunities that highlight the importance of safe and respectful learning environments. Per NRS 388.1395, the governing body of each school shall determine the most effective manner for the delivery of information to students during the Week of Respect, which must focus on:

      • Methods to prevent, identify, and report incidents of bullying and cyber-bullying;
      • Methods to improve the school environment in a manner that will facilitate positive human relations among pupils; and
      • Methods to facilitate positive human relations among pupils by eliminating the use of bullying and cyber-bullying.

      However, with fall break scheduled for the designated Week of Respect, the District will be celebrating all month.

      Eyes on Bullying Toolkit: Offers a variety of tools and resources to help parents and caregivers of children and adolescents address the issue of bullying. This toolkit defines bullying and discusses why bullying can sometimes be difficult to see; introduces the concepts of bully, victim, and bystander; provides recommendations and strategies for addressing bullying when it occurs; and offers a strategic approach to creating an environment where everyone takes responsibility for preventing bullying.

       

      FBI - Safe Online Surfing: The FBI Safe Online Surfing (SOS) Internet Challenge is a free, educational program for children that teaches cyber safety and helps them become better digital citizens in a fun and engaging way. The program, created for students in third through eighth grades, covers age-appropriate topics like cyberbullying, passwords, malware, social media, and more.
