• Senate Bill 231 (SB231) Salary Match Information

Update: This program will be continuing for 2025-26. More information TBA.

The State passed Senate Bill 231 (SB231) to give educators and support staff an additional salary increase for the pay periods from July 2023 through June of 2025.  Our district’s allocation of SB231 funding allows us to provide a 4% salary increase based on Fiscal Year 2022-23 salary levels.  It will be up to the State Legislature to determine if this will continue beyond June of 2025.

The additional pay will be 4% of your base rate of pay before the Fiscal Year 2023-24 cost of living increase, or any other rate changes agreed on in the negotiated agreements for Fiscal Year 2023-24.  An example of this is shown below for certified employees:

         Fiscal Year 2022-23 Base Pay                 $ 60,000.00
         Fiscal Year 2023-24 COLA (14.0%)         $  8,400.00
         SB231 Match (4.0%)                                $  2,400.00
         Total Fiscal Year 2023-24 Pay                 $ 70,800.00

Also, SB231 only applies to your base pay, so some pay codes will not be included in this additional pay.

For employees covered under the WEA, WESP, or WCSPOA agreements, as well as eligible non-represented employees, the SB231 increase is retroactive to July 1, 2023, and the retro pay will be included in your March paycheck. This March payment will include the SB231 increase for all base pay earned and received from July 2023 through February 2024.  Employees covered under WPTA will receive the retro pay in April, which will be through March 2024.  Eligible employees in other bargaining units that have received a COLA under new collective bargaining agreements will receive their SB231 pay later this fiscal year.

After this retro payment, each month you will see a SB231 payment that is calculated off of the pay received in the prior month. Thus, the pay you receive in March will be used to calculate the SB231 payment you see on your April paycheck, as an example.

This additional pay, at this time, will continue through June of 2025. The amount of your SB231 payment will continue to be calculated as 4% of your base rate of pay before any Fiscal Year 2023-24 cost of living increase or other increases negotiated through the agreements for Fiscal Year 2023-24. Thus, to be clear, this SB231 additional pay will not increase in Fiscal Year 2024-25.
